Two Quotes for Tuesday

Posted on Updated on

1. The right word may be effective, but no word was ever as effective as a rightly timed pause. — Mark Twain

Since most presenters are nervous, they tend to suffer from speed-talking and learning to incorporate pauses into the speech will become an important part of the presentation. Using pause effectively is one of the most powerful tools a presenter has. Pause brings the audience in, captures their attention and has them leaning closer waiting for more.

2. “Make sure you have finished speaking before your audience has finished listening.” — Dorothy Sarnoff

When you’re done…be done. Nothing worse than babbling or droning on when everyone in the audience knows you were finished ten minutes ago. Be clear. Be succinct. Be finished.
